6 Tips to Maximize Your Candles

There is nothing bad about a candle, except perhaps that it burns out too quickly. The candle is an essential object for a calm evening, a warm, welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Lighting a candle is the beginning of a moment of happiness and relaxation.

Are you sure you are using your candles correctly? Here are some tips for optimal combustion of your scented candles.

Tip #1: Let your candle burn

It seems obvious, but yet! To preserve your candle, we advise you to let it burn for at least one hour. For what ? Quite simply to prevent the candle from hollowing out. Ideally wait until the surface wax has melted to the edges of your candle before extinguishing it.

Tip #2: Cut the wick

To enjoy the scent that your candle gives off while avoiding pollution of the air in your home by fine particles, it is essential to cut the wick before each use. Additionally, a wick that is too long will encourage the wax to consume more quickly. If your wick, when lit, gives off a slight cloud of black smoke, it is because it is too long. Another tip to avoid this black smoke, we also recommend extinguishing your candle a maximum of 1 hour after the surface is completely melted.

For what ? The inside of the container becomes hotter and it is at this time that the wax evaporates through the wick which can generate black smoke and the container can also have black spots (purely aesthetic). Then extinguish your candle and cut the wick with a wick trimmer (essential tool), if you don't have one on hand, you can use nail clippers, the ideal length is between 1/4 and 1/8 inch. This will also avoid having charred waste in your wax and will make relighting easier. Also avoid installing your candle in a draft, which will prevent it from burning properly and encourage the creation of smoke. Another little tip: the thicker the wick of your candle, the shorter it should be cut!

Tip #3: The combustion of your candle depends on its fragrance
The more scented a candle is, the faster it will burn! Conversely, a less scented candle will be able to stay lit longer and will diffuse less odor.

Tip #4: Wax does not forget!
The same candle will always burn in the same way. If the latter has hollowed out the last time it was lit, it will continue to hollow out the following times. To encourage the optimal combustion of your candles, be sure, as indicated in the first tip, to let it burn over its entire surface before extinguishing it.

Tip #5: Wash your candle once it is finished
Our containers are reusable and recyclable. Here are some solutions for cleaning your containers:

☞ When your candle is finished, fill it to the brim with boiling water and leave it overnight. The next day, the wax will have settled at the top of the container, at the water level, and you can therefore easily remove it. Do not hesitate to repeat the operation as many times as necessary so that your container is completely clean. This solution works for all types of candles!

☞ Another technique, immerse your candle in a double boiler. When the water first starts to simmer, the wax begins to melt. Once it is completely melted, empty it onto a piece of cardboard and finish cleaning your container using dishwashing liquid.

Tip #6: Recycle your candle
Once your candle is cleaned, it is ready for a new life! Some examples: flower pot, pencil holder, cotton swabs, your paintbrushes, jewelry box, craft items, drinking glass, candy jar, etc.
